The Acatenango overnight hike is one of the most unforgettable (and rewarding!) parts of the trip. We’ll hike about 5 miles up to base camp with an elevation gain of over 4,000 feet, reaching our cozy campsite around 11,500 feet.

From there, you’ll have a front-row seat to watch Volcán Fuego erupt in the distance—an absolutely magical experience under the stars (both sight and sound!). Later in the afternoon, there’s an optional summit hike (another mile and 1,500 feet of elevation gain) for those who want to catch sunset from the very top (trust me, it's worth it!)

Now I'm not going to lie--Acatenango is definitely a challenging trek, but you don’t have to be a hardcore hiker to do it! If you’d like extra support, you can hire a horse to ride part or all of the way up, and porters are available to carry your backpack for an additional fee.

Our local guides will be with us every step of the way, and all gear (tents, sleeping bags, warm layers, meals) will be provided. This is a true bucket-list adventure—and will likely be the highlight of the trip!

Guatemala’s weather varies by region, but in general, you can expect warm days and cool evenings, especially in the highlands like Antigua and Lake Atitlán.

Pack light layers, including a warm jacket or fleece for chilly mornings and evenings (Acatenango can be chilly), comfortable hiking shoes, and activewear for adventure days. The key is to be ready for a little bit of everything—sun, rain, and mountain breezes!

I will be emailing you a full packing list prior to the trip, so you don't have to wonder what to pack.

Registration will close 90 days before the trip, however these trips typically fill up fast. Please note that I only have 14 spots available.

I require an initial deposit of $500 per person to hold your spot and then I offer payment plan options of either 2 payments of $1150 or 4 payments of $575 per person. *If you choose to pay the remaining balance before those deadlines you can contact me at [email protected]

I also wanted to mention that we can be flexible with payments too. If there is a better payment plan that works better for you, we can make it work!

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included throughout the duration of the trip.

We also have a budget for lunches ($10 USD per person) and for dinners ($20 USD per person). If you want to order more, you can certainly do that and just pay me the difference. Also, alcoholic beverages (or any specialty drinks) are not included in the trip fee. You will simply keep a tab and then at the end of the trip, you can pay me in cash or Venmo/PayPal.

International lights to and from Guatemala are not covered in your trip fee.

In addition, tips for guides and drivers, alcoholic beverages, snacks, travel fees and incidentals  are not included in your trip fee. Any optional activities you choose to do during your free time such as massages are also not included.

Your trip fee covers ALL accommodations in Guatemala (3-4 star hotels), ground transportation, guides, all meals, excursions, mini photography workshops, guided meditations, and park entrance fees.

You need to arrive in Guatemala City International airport no later than 3PM (local time) on January 23rd.

For departures, you need to arrange your flight to leave Guatemala City after 3PM on Jan 30th, unless you choose to do the optional 2 day add-on to Tikal, in which case you'll need to arrange your departure on Feb 1st after 3PM.

Please keep in mind that if you arrive before Jan 23rd or after Jan 30th (or Feb 1st), you will need to arrange your own hotel and transportation.

We will eat a variety of different types of food including local cuisine, along with Western, Italian and Mexican.

If you have food allergies, I will accommodate you food needs and preferences. I always send out a survey prior to the trip for this reason, so we can plan our meals at restaurants that accommodate different food allergies and preferences (such as gluten-free, vegetarian, dairy-free).

Yes. If there are any activities you don't want to participate in (including the guided meditations), that is totally fine! Of course, I would prefer that everyone enjoys the activities together as a group, but I also understand if there is something you would rather not do. This is your trip, after all! :)

In addition, if you just need a day of total rest and relaxation, you are free to skip out on the day's activities if you wish.

You’ll have 30 days after registration to cancel and receive a full refund of your deposit. After that period, all payments become non-refundable. That said, if you need to cancel, I’ll do my best to resell your spot. While I often have a waitlist and can usually find someone to take your place, this cannot be guaranteed. If I’m unable to fill your spot—and you’re unable to find a replacement—unfortunately, no refund will be issued.

This is why I strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance. If unexpected circumstances arise and you need to cancel, your policy can help reimburse you for your trip costs.
